On March 3, 2025, the Girls' Festival, the traditional "Nagashibina" event was held at Kamigamo Shrine, a World Heritage Site in Kita-ku, Kyoto City. As the rain drizzled, priests and worshippers floated washi paper dolls down a stream, praying for good health.
This event involves transferring misfortune and impurities to dolls, which are then floated down the river to be rid of them. It is said to be the origin of modern-day Hina dolls.
