一年の世相を表す「今年の漢字」に「金」が選ばれた。京都市東山区の清水寺で2024年12月12日、日本漢字能力検定協会（同区）が発表した。パリ五輪・パラリンピックで相次いだ日本勢の「金」メダル獲得、自民党の裏「金」問題、大谷翔平選手の値千「金」の活躍、佐渡金山の世界遺産登録、止まらない物価高騰などを反映した。

"Kin" (gold) has been chosen as the kanji of the year, representing the state of the world for the year. The announcement was made by the Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation (Kyoto, Higashiyama Ward) on December 12, 2024, at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. The selection reflects the succession of gold medals won by Japanese athletes at the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, the Liberal Democratic Party's secret gold scandal, the achievements of Shohei Ohtani, who is worth a thousand gold medals, the registration of Sado Gold Mine as a World Heritage Site, and the continuing rise in prices.

“金”被選為“年度漢字”，以代表當年的社會狀況。該公告由日本漢字能力考試協會（同區）於2024年12月12日在京都市東山區清水寺發布。反映出日本運動員在巴黎奧運和殘奧會上獲得金牌的成功、自民黨的秘密資金問題、大谷翔平的黃金價值、佐渡金山被登記為世界遺產以及不可阻擋的物價上漲。

일년의 세상을 나타내는 '올해의 한자'에 '금'이 선정됐다. 교토시 히가시야마구의 기요미즈데라에서 2024년 12월 12일 일본 한자능력검정협회(교토시 히가시야마구)가 발표했다.
파리 올림픽·패럴림픽에서 잇따른 일본세의 ‘금’ 메달 획득, 자민당의 뒤 ‘금’ 문제, 오타니 쇼헤이 선수의 가격 ‘금’ 활약, 사도 금산의 세계 유산 등록, 멈추지 않는 물가 상승 등을 반영 했다.
