夜通しで念仏を唱える「ミッドナイト念仏 in 御忌（ぎょき）」が2024年4月19日の夜、京都市東山区の知恩院（浄土宗総本山）で始まった。国宝・三門の楼上にある仏堂で、参拝者が木魚の音に合わせて「南無阿弥陀仏」を繰り返した。

''Midnight Nembutsu in Gyoki,'' a night of reciting the Nembutsu, began on the night of April 19, 2024 at Chion-in Temple (the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism) in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. At the Buddhist hall atop the Sanmon tower, a national treasure, worshipers repeated ''Namu Amida Butsu'' to the sound of mokgyo.
