Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in various parts of the Yamashiro region in southern Kyoto Prefecture. In the areas known as famous sightseeing spots in Uji City and Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, festivals were held and many people gathered.

The annual spring event, the Uji River Sakura Festival, began on April 5, 2025 in the Kyoto Prefectural Uji Park area in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. About 30 booths were set up selling local delicacies such as Uji chazuke, tea dumplings, cherry blossom viewing bento boxes, and pottery. Visitors enjoyed eating and drinking on the riverbank while admiring the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

The Uji River Sakura Festival runs until April 6. You can also enjoy a matcha seat at the nearby Uji City Tourist Center.

In the Sewaretsutsumi area of Yodo River Park in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, where a row of cherry trees stretches for about 1.4 kilometers, a beautiful cherry blossom tunnel welcomes visitors. About 220 Somei-yoshino cherry trees are lined up along the embankment between the Kizu River and the Uji River. The flowers are said to have bloomed later than usual, but are now in full bloom.

The Sewaretsutsumi area is holding a Sakura Festival until April 13th, with a market and other events taking place.
