The "Toji Literary Fan Exhibition: Cool Words 2025" is being held at the World Heritage Site Toji Temple in Kyoto's Minami Ward until September 21, 2025. This exhibition features approximately 280 works by haiku, tanka, senryu, and gogyo-ka enthusiasts from across Japan, along with matching illustrations hand-painted on fans by calligraphers and artists. They provide a refreshing feeling to visitors amid the lingering heat of summer.

Approximately 280 fans with designs based on haiku, tanka, senryu, and gogyo-ka poems are on display at the venue (Toji Temple, Minami Ward, Kyoto City).

The exhibition is organized by Rokuyosha (Tokyo), a company that organizes exhibitions of haiku and tanka, with production support from Komaruya Sumii (Kyoto), a long-established fan manufacturer and retailer.

In the venue's dining room, a row of one-of-a-kind fans, featuring colorful illustrations and works that sing of the four seasons, natural landscapes, and memories of deceased loved ones, are lined up. Poets in their 50s to 90s from Hokkaido to Kyushu are conveying their feelings through their words.

Free admission. Hours: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Geisha and maiko will be visiting on September 20th.
