The Yoshizu Railway Day Autumn Festival, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of Iwatakiguchi Station on the Kyoto Tango Railway in Suzu, Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture, will be held on October 11th and 12th, 2025. A variety of events, including film screenings, traditional performing arts performances, and a market, will be held to celebrate this milestone and liven up the local area.

Iwatakiguchi Station opened on July 31st, 1925, when Miyazu-Tango-Yamada Station (now Yosano Station) opened. According to the Miyazu City History, a dispute arose over the station's name between the former Iwataki Town and the former Yoshizu Village, both of which insisted on the name "Iwataki Station," but the name was eventually settled on "Iwatakiguchi."
The festival is organized by the Yoshizu District Autonomy Council and others. On October 11th, a free screening of the "RAILWAYS" trilogy, set on local railways, will be held at the Yoshizu Community Center, in commemoration of the fact that there used to be a movie theater in front of the station.
On October 12th, there will be local sword-fighting and kagura performances in front of the station, and students from Yoshizu Elementary School will present the results of their research into the names of houses that were once shops and inns in the Suzu area.
There will also be stalls selling curry grills and croquettes, and there will also be horseback riding experiences and live music. The nostalgic gate with hanging lanterns in front of the station will be restored.
As a pre-event, an exhibition of works by a local calligraphy artist will be held at the gallery inside Iwatakiguchi Station. Admission is free.
