On the evening of October 3, 2025, a drone show and light-up event was held at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a World Heritage Site in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink ribbons were floated in the Kyoto night sky to raise awareness for the eradication of breast cancer.
Amid a light rain, the main hall was lit up in pink at 6:45 pm, followed by 360 drones soaring into the night sky. Visitors cheered as they looked up at the drones, forming the pink ribbon, the symbol of a campaign calling for early detection and appropriate treatment of breast cancer, and the message "Towards a world without breast cancer" in Japanese and English.
The event was organized by cosmetics manufacturer Estée Lauder Companies in cooperation with Kiyomizu-dera Temple. A memorial service was also held in the main hall to commemorate those who have died from breast cancer.
