More than 300,000 cosmos flowers are in full bloom at the Yuragawa Flower Garden in Aono-cho, Ayabe City, Kyoto Prefecture. Known locally as a "flower field where you can pick flowers," visitors enjoy admiring the vibrantly blooming blossoms and making bouquets from them.
The gardens, located upstream and downstream of Shirase Bridge, cover a total of 2,900 square meters of space. The Ayabe City Silver Human Resources Center (Miyashiro-cho, Ayabe City) sows and cultivates the cosmos seeds every year in early September. This year, the flowers began blooming in mid-October.
The Ayabe City Silver Center has put up a sign that reads, "Please feel free to pick flowers," and adds, "As part of our greening efforts, we hope that visitors will not only touch the flowers, but also take them home to enjoy." Admission is free. The best time to see the flowers is until early November.
