At around 11:30 AM on February 8, 2026, several vehicles became stuck on Kitsunezaka in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, during heavy snowfall, rendering the road impassable.
As of 11:30 AM, it appears that around five or six vehicles were stuck, preventing following vehicles from passing in both directions as well. Some of the vehicles were on standard tires.
The road accident occurred on a slope located in the northern part of Kyoto City, and as of 11:30 AM, there was around 10 to 15 centimeters of snow. City buses and other vehicles have also become stuck during heavy snowfall in the past.
The Kyoto Regional Meteorological Observatory issued a heavy snow warning for the entire Kyoto Prefecture in the early morning of February 8, urging caution against traffic disruptions.
