In the Yodo area of Kyoto City's Fushimi Ward, the early-blooming Kawazu cherry trees planted along the waterways are in full bloom. Despite a chilly morning, the weather gradually cleared on March 6, 2026, as tourists enjoyed the early arrival of spring.
A total of approximately 300 Kawazu cherry trees have been planted along the waterways in the Yodo area, at Yodo Castle Ruins Park, and at the rotary in front of Keihan Yodo Station. Many tourists and local residents enjoyed the spring in full bloom, taking photos and enjoying cherry blossom viewing. This year, the flowers bloomed in late February, around average, and can be enjoyed until late March.
A 58-year-old woman from Neyagawa City, Osaka Prefecture, who was visiting for the first time with two friends, commented, "The deep pink flowers are amazing. I'm so happy we were able to visit just in time for them to be in full bloom," as she took photos with her smartphone.
