Cherry blossom viewing spots in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture, are in full bloom, attracting many visitors. The cherry blossoms change their appearance depending on the time of day: the gentle sunlight enhances the transparency of the flowers during the day, while the illumination creates a fantastical scene at night, showcasing the fleeting beauty of spring.
On April 2nd, 2026, families and couples strolled along the Nanatani River in Chitose-cho, admiring the interplay of blossoms and the clear stream, navigating the approximately 1,500 cherry trees that bloomed like a tunnel. At Hiranosawa Pond in Umaji-cho, on the night of April 1st, approximately 110 Somei Yoshino cherry trees were illuminated, projecting a hazy pink color onto the water's surface as raindrops created ripples.
As part of Kameoka Sakura Week, the cherry blossoms, including those at Nango Park and Kameoka Sports Park, are being illuminated from 7 PM to 9 PM. The event runs until April 12th, but may be shortened depending on the blooming status.
