The Omuro cherry blossoms, known for their late blooming, are now in full bloom at Ninna-ji Temple, a World Heritage site in Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. On April 8, 2026, under a clear sky, many visitors gazed at the pale pink blossoms, exclaiming "beautiful!" and other expressions of admiration. The blossoms are expected to be at their best until this weekend.
The Omuro cherry blossoms are the collective name for approximately 200 cherry trees planted on the west side of the temple grounds, and are designated as a national scenic spot. From the wooden deck, which was made permanent this year, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the cherry grove (2-4 meters tall) and the five-story pagoda in the background, and the area was bustling with people eagerly taking photographs.
