Approximately 10,000 hydrangea plants are in full bloom at the Kyoto City Southern Clean Center in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City. Blue and purple flowers are in full bloom along the "Hydrangea Path" on the grounds, and visitors are enjoying strolling and taking pictures.

Hydrangeas, with their pink and purple blossoms, delight visitors (Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City)

The Hydrangea Path was developed in 2019 to coincide with the opening of "Susutena Kyoto," Kyoto City's environmental learning facility. More than four varieties of hydrangeas, including European hydrangeas and Annabelle hydrangeas, are planted along the approximately 300-meter-long walkway.

Mobile batteries and other items are collected at the facility.

According to the facility, approximately 10,000 people visited in June alone last year, and this year's pace is expected to exceed last year's.

Following a fire in the clean center's bulky waste pit in January of this year, collection boxes for rechargeable electrical appliances using lithium-ion batteries, which were the cause of the fire, have been installed inside the building. A staff member is urging people to bring any products they are having trouble disposing of.

The center is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A free shuttle bus runs between Takeda Station and Chushojima Station and the center on Saturdays and Sundays.
