On August 8, 2026—a date featuring a repeating "8" pattern (Reiwa 8, Month 8, Day 8)—commemorative goods, including special tickets, went on sale at Yase-Hieizanguchi Station on the Eizan Electric Railway in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto. Railway enthusiasts and others formed a line starting in the morning.
To mark the occasion, the railway sold items such as the "888" commemorative set, which included platform tickets for the three stations on the line with "Hachi" (eight) in their names: Yase-Hieizanguchi, Miyake-Hachiman, and Hachiman-mae. Train car No. 816, renumbered to "888," also made an appearance. A commemorative stamp rally involving these three stations is also being held through September 8.
A 48-year-old company employee from Ukyo Ward, Kyoto, who purchased the commemorative tickets, said, "I had previously bought the '7-7-7' tickets for July 7, 2025, and the '7-8-9' tickets for August 9, 2025—both limited releases from Eizan Electric Railway—so I lined up around 8:30 a.m., an hour before sales began, for this one too. I’m relieved I was able to buy them."
