Ahead of Halloween, Yanagidani Kannon Yokoku-ji Temple—located in Jododani, Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture, and known as the birthplace of "hana-chozu" (floral water basins)—has introduced a display featuring pumpkins floating in its water basins. The temple grounds have been decorated in a style that blends Japanese and Western aesthetics, delighting visitors.

Yokoku-ji Temple is home to several *chozu-bachi* (water basins for ritual purification)—such as the "Dragon Basin" (*ryu-chozu*) and the "Moss Basin" (*koke-chozu*)—which are adorned with seasonal flowers. These displays have gained popularity on social media.

In the "Dragon Basin," pumpkins float alongside eustomas and gerberas, their vibrant orange hues standing out beautifully. At the "Moss Basin," visitors can enjoy the striking contrast between the floral display and the serene garden landscape. Plans are in place to add white and green pumpkins to the arrangements soon.

These pumpkin-themed floral water basins will be on view until the end of October. An admission fee is required to enter the temple grounds.
