Renovation work on Eizan Electric Railway's Chayama-Kyoto University of Arts Station in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City has recently been completed. While progress has been made to make the station barrier-free by eliminating steps, the station has also been reborn as a unique station that features an abundance of wood from Kyoto and exhibits of artwork.

During construction, slopes were installed on each platform of the up and down lines. The platform has also been raised to reduce the height difference from the vehicle entrance, making it easier for wheelchairs and strollers to use.

For the renovation of the station roof, faculty members from the nearby Kyoto University of Arts, which has a partnership agreement with Eizan Electric Railway, were in charge of the design and lighting. The roof, walls, and benches utilize the texture of wood to create a warm home. The completion ceremony will be held on November 2nd.

Two monuments were installed on the platform, including a work with the motif of a "sailor's cat" by Kenji Yanobe, a contemporary artist and professor at Kyoto University of Arts. It is called the ''Platform Gallery,'' and plans include regular replacement of works and exhibitions using the walls.
