On March 7, 2024, a sunny day, two Kawazu cherry trees were in full bloom at the west end of Sanjo Ohashi Bridge in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City. Against the backdrop of the dazzling white wood of the bridge, which was renovated in January, the deep pink flowers in full bloom give a sense of the arrival of spring.
The cherry blossoms are almost in full bloom, although some buds remain. Small birds and insects also visited, and white-eyes and sparrows were flying from branch to branch, chirping lightly.
Passersby stopped by the vivid scenery and took photos with their cameras and smartphones, exclaiming in surprise, ''Cherry blossoms, plum blossoms?'' and ''It's early.'' Many foreign tourists were also seen, and there was always a crowd of people under the tree.
