The Kyoto Local Meteorological Observatory announced on April 17, 2024 that it had confirmed that yellow dust was flying in Kyoto Prefecture just before noon on April 17th. This is the first time this year and the first since April 12, 2023.

In Kyoto City, the surrounding mountains became hazy due to the yellow sand, and cars were covered in fine sand.

According to the meteorological observatory, the yellow dust is expected to continue until April 18th.
