On July 21, 2024, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's acrobatic flying team, Blue Impulse, held a demonstration flight over Amanohashidate in Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the city. The team's graceful flight, trailing white smoke, performed alongside the spectacular scenery of one of Japan's three most scenic spots, captivating fans.
For the demonstration flight, six aircraft took off from Komatsu Air Base of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in Ishikawa Prefecture and appeared in the sky above Amanohashidate just after 1:30 p.m. They performed 11 performances over about 30 minutes, flying in a pyramid shape and drawing a big heart with smoke.
In Amanohashidate and Shimazaki Park facing Miyazu Bay, spectators cheered and filmed the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's amazing skills to celebrate Miyazu City's milestone.
The demonstration flight was held as part of the "Amanohashidate Seaside Kyoto Nigiwai Festival," organized by an executive committee made up of Miyazu City, the Miyazu Chamber of Commerce, and others.
