According to the Kyoto Regional Meteorological Observatory, extremely heavy rain of 53 mm fell in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, in the hour leading up to 5:00 pm on August 4. At one point, approximately 7,000 households in Kyoto City lost power, and the "Kamogawa Summer Festival 2024" event, which had been scheduled to start in the evening on the Kamogawa riverbed, was canceled.
