滋賀県の最高峰、伊吹山（米原市、1377メートル）の伊吹山ドライブウェイ（全長17キロ）で、4月下旬の開通に向けた除雪作業の様子が2024年3月14日、報道関係者に公開された。山頂付近にはいまだ1～3メートルの雪が残るといい、重機を使って車の通り道を開いている。
除雪作業は3月4日から始まった。タイヤショベルカー1台から始まり、3月13日からはバックホウも加わって連日行われている。この日はドライブウェイの16キロ付近（標高1145メートル）で作業が行われた。
