京都府警東山署は2024年6月19日、京都市東山区の知恩院（浄土宗総本山）で、国宝の三門に落書きされたような傷が見つかったと発表した。京都府警東山署が文化財保護法違反の疑いで捜査している。

On June 19, 2024, the Higashiyama Police Station of Kyoto Prefectural Police announced that damage resembling graffiti had been found on the national treasure Sanmon Gate at Chion-in Temple (the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism) in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. The Higashiyama Police Station of Kyoto Prefectural Police is investigating the case as a suspected violation of the Cultural Properties Protection Act.
