スウェーデン王立科学アカデミーは2025年10月8日、2025年ノーベル化学賞を、二酸化炭素（CO2）などの気体を自在に分離・貯蔵する多孔性金属錯体（PCP）を作製した京都大学理事・副学長で京都大学特別教授の北川進氏（74歳）ら3人に贈る、と発表した。
10月8日の午後8時から京都市左京区の京都大学で会見が行われた。

On October 8, 2025, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced that the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded to Susumu Kitagawa (74), Executive Vice President and Distinguished Professor at Kyoto University, and two others for their development of a porous metal complex (PCP) that can freely separate and store gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2). A press conference was held at 8:00 pm on October 8 at Kyoto University in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City.
