Eizan Electric Railway (Sakyo-ku, Kyoto) is operating at reduced speed between Ichihara and Ninose stations to allow passengers to enjoy the vibrant green maple leaves along the line. Passengers are enjoying the lush green foliage reflected in the windows.
Approximately 280 maple trees are planted along a 250-meter section known as the "Maple Tunnel," and trains are running at about half the normal speed. Passengers on the "Kirara" observation train, which features specially designed seating to enhance the view, were busily taking photographs.
A 56-year-old housewife from Osaka, who visited on the afternoon of May 13th, said, "The fresh green leaves looked so beautiful after being wet from the rain. It's wonderful to be able to feel the greenery so close from the train."
The reduced speed operation will continue until May 31st, generally between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. For more details, please visit the Eizan Electric Railway website.
